Training Course/Workshop The Lift Engineering Section, University of Northampton/ National Lift Tower, with the support of the Lift and Escalator Industry association (LEIA), have announced that they will running a course/workshop at the National Lift Tower in Northampton on Wednesday 30th September. The event is being organised in conjunction with TUV SUD Industrie Service GmbH Innovative Systems and is titled: Application of a modern measurement toolkit to verify code-compliance of various safety-relevant physical parameters of a lift system.

The course/workshop will give an opportunity for the delegates to get familiar with the theory and practice concerning the verification procedures of fundamental safety parameters of a lift system. The course will cover traction, door and safety gear requirements with practical sessions involving tests and recording of measurements using the ADIASYSTEM tools.

Aims and Scope

The issue of safety is of paramount importance in the design, installation and maintenance of lift systems. The course/workshop will give the delegates an opportunity to become familiar with the theory and practice concerning the verification procedures of fundamental safety parameters of a lift system. The course will cover traction, door and safety gear requirements with practical sessions involving tests and recording of measurements using the ADIASYSTEM tools.

The Course Tutor will be Alfons Petry. Alfons graduated with a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the Technical University of Aachen and holds Postgraduate Certificate as a Quality Assurance Expert Engineer awarded by DGQ, Frankfurt. He is an experienced practitioner who has been working within TUV SUD Group, Munich, for many years being involved with expert engineering responsibilities in various safety relevant fields, including manifold assignments in inspection and certification, quality assurance and international projects. His present position is Director of TUV SUD Industrie Service GmbH Innovative Systems, being in charge of TUV’s lift inspection method ADIASYSTEM. Alfons has well established connections with the Lift Industry worldwide.
