THE LIFT ACADEMY SUCCESSFULLY TAKES OFF
Printable version

The inaugural meeting of the LIFT ACADEMY was held on Wednesday 14th November in Balham South London. The turnout was exceptional and saw 85 apprentices and trainees from independent lift contractors attend the event.

David Cooper, the founder of the Academy gave a talk on BS7255 Safe Working on Lifts: Section 5 responsibilities of persons working on Lifts. After the event David Cooper expressed his gratitude to the Directors who had supported him with the Academy initiative and said that he was pleased with the turnout which was well in excess of what he had expected.

Jeff Nokes, Managing Director of Liftec, closed the meeting by saying that the initiative was well overdue and both congratulated and thanked David for his efforts in getting the Academy going. Further meetings are planned in February when David will repeat his talk in Manchester and Dennis Major of Pfeifer Drako will present a talk on lift ropes.

Attendance of the Lift Academy is FREE OF CHARGE for trainees and apprentices, if you are interested in sending someone along to the next Lift Academy event. Please contact organiser david.cooper@lecs.co.uk or Academy Secretary susan.terry@global-lift.com who will be happy to provide information on upcoming events.
