Dear Friend and Colleague,

1. I lost my dear wife Sandie to pancreatic cancer in April of this year; and
2. I am no athlete, suffice it to say that I don’t swim off of the coast of Nova Scotia, if you get my drift.
   

Bearing all this in mind, I have taken on the challenge of a five day hike along the Great Wall of China to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

I am undertaking this challenge in Sandie’s memory and with the full knowledge that the money I raise will go to one of the most worthwhile causes I know. The trek will be an arduous challenge for me and I have already begun training for it, it’s certainly no walk in the park. We will walk for 7-12 hours a day along the Great Wall of China, rough camping along the way. The minimum I hope raise is £5,000.00 which is a pretty tall order, but one that with your help I will fulfil.

I sincerely hope that no one reading this will ever need to call on Macmillan Cancer Support but with cancer affecting 1 in 3 of the population in one way or another statistics dictate that some unfortunately will. Those people who have to will receive unconditional care and support and believe me, in some of the darkest days of your life, that’s priceless.
